A little less than eleven months have passed since Emma Raducanu 's triumph at the US Open 2021 and the Briton has still not been able to build on her achievements from New York. In the current season, the 19-year-old has a record of nine wins and twelve defeats, and in the previous three Grand Slam tournaments she was eliminated in the second round.

Before Raducanu returns to the place of her greatest triumph in a month, the WTA 250 tournament in Washington is on the agenda for the world number ten this week. In the US capital, the teenager is second behind Jessica Pegula.

In Washington, Raducanu will be looked after by Dmitry Tursunov for the first time at a tournament, but the cooperation with the 39-year-old is unlikely to last too long. The two, according to Raducanu, are currently in a trial phase and will not work together continuously. For example, Tursunov already has other commitments for next week's WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto.

Raducanu: "A great opportunity"

"We'll see how it goes. I think it's a great opportunity to work with him," Raducanu said in Washington. Despite her improving results this year, she does not want to put too much pressure on herself for the near future as she is still learning at her young age.

"This year was difficult because I was trying to find my way at this level," said Raducanu, who, apart from her victory at the US Open, was satisfied with the results of the past twelve months. However, the Briton was not yet granted a tournament win this year.
