Unlike the men , the tournament victory in Rome really paid off for the women in the world rankings: Iga Swiatek , who did not play a single game in the final against Karolina Pliskova, made up six places and is in the WTA charts Ninth place in the top ten for the first time in her career. Nothing happened before her, Ashleigh Barty still leads the ranking ahead of Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep.

In addition to Swiatek, her semi-final opponent in the Italian capital was also able to look forward to a new career high. The only 17-year-old Cori Gauff improved by five positions and is now in 30th place. Maria Sakkari (18th), Karolina Muchova (19th) and Jessica Pegula (28th) also recorded new personal bests.
Kerber unchanged at position 26
A new personal record is no longer possible for Angelique Kerber in view of her past as the world number one in her career, but the German number one seems to be far from her top form anyway. In the world rankings, the 33-year-old is in 26th place, in the Race to Shenzhen, which only reflects the performance of the current season, she lags even further behind in 41st place.
Ashleigh Barty, Aryna Sabalenka (new number two) and Naomi Osaka are currently well on their way to the season finale of the eight best players. The rest of the quintet, which from the current perspective should serve in China, consists of Garbine Muguruza, Iga Swiatek, Jennifer Brady, Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova.
