The world ranked seventh prevailed late Sunday evening in the final against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in Sudden Death. The first player to score two points in a row wins. Both actors had previously won two quarters, Zverev the first (19:10) and the fourth (18: 8), Auger-Aliassime the middle two (13:11, 18:11).

The two finalists had already faced each other on Saturday, where Zverev had also won in Sudden Death. In the semifinals, the Hamburg player won the Frenchman Corentin Moutet 3-1.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won the women.

Zverev: No answers to the Adriatic tour

For Zverev, the tournament on the Cote d'Azur was the first appearance after the controversial Adriatic tour, in which he had made headlines with a party video . On the Adriatic tour, several players were infected with the corona virus, including the organizer Novak Djokovic and the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who played in Nice.

Zverev had wanted to isolate himself after the Adriatic tour. Then another party video from Monaco appeared, showing how Zverev celebrated wildly despite the self-imposed isolation. This caused plenty of resentment in the scene.

Zverev then went into hiding and canceled a registered invitation tournament in Berlin. Zverev responded to a corresponding demand in Nice by leaving the press conference.
