Borna Coric's career has been repeatedly interrupted by injuries. However, the Croatian has already been able to collect a few highlights. Such as the triumph at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati last summer.

With his opening success in Rome, Coric has now celebrated his 200th individual victory on the tour. And had to work for more than three hours for it. Because Thiago Monteiro fought back as best he could and even had a match point in the second set in the tie-break. In the end, however, Coric won 4: 6, 7: 6 (8) and 7: 6 (5).

In the next round, Coric meets a man who also had to go the full distance: Roberto Carballes Baena was on the court even longer than Coric against Daniel Evans. Incidentally, Coric celebrated his very first win at home: in 2014 in Umag against Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
