Bad news for all fans of Grigor Dimitrov - and also for Dominic Thiem : Dimitrov was tested positive for the COVID-19 virus in Monte Carlo after his return from the Adria Cup in Belgrade. In Belgrade Dimitrov had not only participated in the blitz tournament organized by Novak Djokovic, but also in a soccer game with colleagues.

Already during the event, criticism had been voiced about the inadequate security measures from the perspective of large parts of Europe: there were practically none. The stands were full, the ball children brought the towels to the participants as if the Corona virus had never been seen. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether Dimitrov has actually contracted Belgrade. After the event, however, it became known that Nikola Jankovic, a basketball player from Partizan Belgrade with whom Djokovic and Co. had had contact, had a positive test.

The news is uncomfortable for Dominic Thiem in two respects: First, the current number three in the world was itself part of the extensive festivities in the Serbian capital, which continued this weekend in Zadar with a slightly different cast. On the other hand, Grigor Dimitrov is one of seven players Thiem invited to his "Thiem's 7" from July 7th to 13th in Kitzbühel.
