It was quite strange pictures that were circulating in the social networks before the Adria Tour. The players around Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev got in touch with group photos, a soccer game or a photo with the ball children - no trace of social distancing. "It is more of a regional approach to see which countries allow this type of event because they have had better numbers, maybe compared to some other countries. We have had pretty good success with the corona virus," said Djokovic in a pre-tournament press conference.
This Saturday, however, tennis should be the focus anyway - and tennis fans can look forward to some exciting encounters. The tournament will be played in two groups, so Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic will meet tomorrow. Dominic Thiem, on the other hand, was given Grigor Dimitrov as the toughest chunk.
Zverev and Djokovic in a group
It is the Bulgarian who will play the first match of the tournament. Dimitrov opens against Dusan Lajovic at 14:00. Immediately afterwards it is time for Dominic Thiem to make his first appearance at the event. The Austrian meets Damir Dzumhur. Then host Novak Djokovic will also be on the pitch, the industry leader will have to deal with Viktor Troicki. Alexander Zverev and Filip Krajinovic finally conclude the day session.
But that's not all tennis this Friday, from 7:00 p.m. all athletes will play another group game. In the night session it is again Grigor Dimitrov who will open. This time the 29-year-old is dealing with Damir Dzumhur. Then Dominic Thiem meets Dusan Lajovic before Novak Djokovic and Filip Krajinovic will meet. The day ended with Alexander Zverev and Viktor Troicki.
The entire tournament is played in "Fast 4 mode" (with a tie break at 3: 3) and on three winning sets. The first two groups will play a final game on Sunday. The games of Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev are available in our match tracker, Eurosport 2 broadcasts the Adria Tour on TV.
