What good news from Carla Suarez Navarro! The Spaniard announced in early September that she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a malignant tumor of the lymphatic system. Six months of chemotherapy would now lie ahead of her, according to the former number 6 in the world. /

In mid-November, Suarez Navarro said that treatment would continue for a week, and she recently posted some videos on weight and fitness training on Instagram. And today: There was the first video from the tennis court, during a session with Sara Errani. "Sunday funday," she wrote on Twitter, "thanks for the training, Sara Errani."

Is Carla Suarez Navarro hanging on for another year?

Suarez Navarro had played her last match so far in Doha in February. On the WTA tour, she celebrated a total of two tournament victories in singles and made it to the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament seven times. Suarez Navarro has one of the nicest one-handed backhands on the tour - and is considered one of the nicest players ever.

After her diagnosis, many colleagues contacted her with encouraging words. "Carla, you are such a fighter and I have no doubt that you will get through this. Stay positive and come back soon," wrote Novak Djokovic. "I think of you and I know that a strong and special person like you can get through this," said Simona Halep. "If I know anyone who can handle it, it's you," said Petra Kvitova.

To what extent will Suarez Navarro play again on the tour? Is not known. A year ago, she announced that the 2020 season would be her last as a professional tennis player. Will that be the case after her compulsory break or will she have another season? It would be nice...
