While the ATP finals of London are hot in London these days, fans outside of the O2 arena also have to deal with far more sad news: after Dominika Cibulkova and Tomas Berdych, Bob and Mike Bryan will also end their active careers.
However, in contrast to Cibulkova and Berdych, the sibling couple will still play most of the coming season. Only after the US Open should be over - after a total of 25 years on the tour. Their debut was the two Americans - how could it be otherwise - at the US Open in 1995.
Since then, the Bryan Brothers have won more than 1,100 matches together, and secured 16 Grand Slam titles. Not least because of these unparalleled records, the two are considered the best men doubles of all time.
The departure from the tennis stage will not be easy for them. "It's obviously a very difficult decision, tennis is in our blood, so it feels like part of us is dying," said Bob Bryan. However, the Americans are already looking forward to the upcoming season, as Bob Bryan explained: "One more season - we are very excited."
