Aid fund for tennis professionals is taking shape

The large tennis organizations ITF, WTA, ATP and the Grand Slam tournaments want to support the poorly ranked players in the world rankings with a one-time payment.

So what should Filippo Baldi think? He is in position 249 in the ATP world rankings, but will not initially benefit from one-time support from the large organizations ITF, WTA, ATP and the Grand Slam tournaments. The first player to be able to plan emergency aid with US $ 10,000 is German Daniel Masur, ATP number 250. Norwegian Ulrikke Eikeri looks through the fingers of women - Daria Gavrilova comes in as WTA number 250 the subsidy.

A total of nine million US dollars are to be distributed to tennis professionals - for all players who are currently classified between the ranks 250 and 700. Which is remarkable in that even professionals like the Baldi in question are unlikely to have a fixed-term deposit account like FC Bayern Munich to compensate for lost earnings by canceling the ITF and ATP tournaments.

Further measures are planned - for example, the virtual replacement tournament for the combined event in Madrid should drop a few euros for the not so well-off professionals. With prize money of € 150,000 each for women and men, this will probably only be a drop in the ocean.

Here are the German-speaking professionals between the ranks 250 and 700
