The process in London is about the legality of a contract that Apey concluded with Zverev in 2012 when the man from Hamburg was 15 years old and that should bind him at least until the end of 2023. Afterwards, Apey believes that the agreement will provide for commission payments for another five years. Stephens spoke of a "very confusing contract" that Zverev signed without legal assistance.
Now the tennis star is about to finally draw a line under the cooperation and go his way again, said Stephens. Almost two years ago, according to the news magazine Der Spiegel, Zverev had already terminated the cooperation with Apey, and the legal dispute has been smoldering ever since. Most recently, Zverev's father Alexander senior said in the mirror: "I have the feeling that my son was cheated on."
The process officially started on Wednesday and is initially scheduled for nine days, on Thursday morning the lawyers from both sides will first make their opening statements before Zverev can speak.
