Actually, Zverev only wanted to run again in Munich - there he is the defending champion.

After his knockout round in Monte Carlo against Fabio Fognini, the 21-year-old has now rescheduled and accepted a wildcard for the 500 tournament in Barcelona. It starts here next Monday (April 22nd).

"I just miss matches, I'll get them in the next few weeks," Zverev told Sky after his defeat in the Principality of Monaco .

Defending champions Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Kei Nishikori and last year's finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas are also at the start in Barcelona.

Zverev has many points to defend on the European clay courts: last year he had reached the semi-finals in Monte Carlo, won in Munich and Madrid, won the final in Rome and the quarter-finals in Roland Garros.

A total of 2,570 of his 6,040 points for the ATP world ranking are therefore at stake in the coming weeks.
