When it comes to management, Alexander Zverev has been through a lot in his still young career. The German number one was only able to break away from the contract with Patricio Apey last autumn, after which Zverev seemed to be in good hands with TEAM8, Roger Federer's agency and his manager Tony Godsick. All the more surprising the separation from TEAM8, which Alexander Zverev announced on Monday via Instagram.

Brother Mischa Zverev took the opportunity to explain the current situation on Sky Sport News. "The management must also be present at the tournaments, which is difficult in the current situation," said the older of the two Zverev brothers, who failed at the qualifying tournament for the Australian Open in Doha. “TEAM8 will continue to advise us if necessary. But we have decided to put more emphasis on the family now. "

Good relationship with Federer

The relationship with Roger Federer, with whom Zverev went on a South American tour at the end of 2019, is not affected. “Roger isn't a manager, he's a player himself. He and Sascha are still great friends, ”continues Mischa. This is not a dramatic separation, but a decision that the Zverev family currently sees as the most sensible.

Mischa Zverev didn't really know how to describe his own role. “That will be interesting. I don't plan to stop. That's why Sergej Bubka is there, he knows the scene. ”He, Misha, has already advised his brother in the past. And in the past few months, the two of them have trained up to three times a day.

The option of Boris Becker joining the team as a super coach is still there, added Mischa Zverev in an interview with Moritz Lang. Ultimately, Sascha has to decide. But also in the case of Becker it would be true that in the current situation it is almost impossible to travel with a larger group. Last year, Becker was the captain of the German team at the ATP Cup. This role will fall to Mischa Zverev in the very slimmed-down edition of 2021.
