The standstill of the tennis tour - it also came as a surprise for Angelique Kerber. Even if the woman from Kiel was already out of action due to a thigh injury and shortly before "Nothing works" the tour had already canceled her appearance in Indian Wells and Miami. Nevertheless, Kerber said in an interview with Emotion magazine that the feeling of not playing tennis or being able to travel around the world is like "braking hard at full speed". /

Without knowing how and when to continue with tennis, training towards an undetermined goal - it is a difficult challenge for all professionals. Also for Kerber, who sees goals as very important in life. "Even as a child, I preferred to play for points, a lollipop or an ice cream rather than just back and forth," said the Wimbledon winner from 2018. And: "In everything I do, I have to see a sense."

Kerber cooks and looks

Kerber generally draws confidence from her Catholic upbringing. "In difficult moments, belief in God is an anchor for me. Although belief for me has different forms and also comes into play in believing in yourself and your own way."

Kerber's current paths: outside to sport ("activity clears your head, you get other thoughts") or to the stove. Because the 32-year-old has discovered - not as the first professional tennis player - the love for self-made. "It is really fun! In your own perception, something that you cook yourself naturally has a very different value than something you order," Kerber knows. The other "series about series" looks that she always wanted to see. And with her Jack Russell Terrier she is immune to the bad connection "delicious food / too much time on the couch": Because like her, he can "not sit still".
