Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler won the title in Acapulco

A strong week for Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco: The two Austrian youngsters were able to crown their performances on Sunday night (CET) by winning the title in the doubles competition at the ATP 500 event. The Austrian duo had already eliminated the top seeded Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof from the tournament.

In the final, Erler/Miedler, who won two of their three matches on the way to the final in the decisive match tie-break, once again showed strong nerves. The duo secured a marathon opening set with 9:7 in the tie-break, previously the duo had had to give up a 5:3 lead.

The second period was also balanced: this time it was the American duo Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow who were supposed to take the lead 5:3, but again the set went in overtime. And again it was Erler/Miedler who showed better nerves in the tie-break. In addition to the triumph at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, it is the biggest title for the Austrians so far. Erler/Miedler have improved their final balance on the ATP tour to 3-0, it is the duo's first title win outside of Austria.
