"I've always said that this is definitely a tournament I want to win in my career. I have a very strong relationship with Mexico and this tournament. I came here with a goal and I achieved it. I'm very happy about that." These were the words of Alexander Zverev after his triumph in Acapulco around seven months ago. It is therefore not surprising that the German will also serve at the ATP 500 tournament in Mexico next year.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, who lost 4: 6 and 6: 7 (3) to Zverev in this year's final, will also play in Acapulco again. But everything will not stay the same for the two finalists: On the one hand, the game will be played in a new stadium with a capacity of around 10,000 in 2022, on the other hand, the competition is likely to be even greater than in the spring of this year.

Because with Daniil Medvedev, the current world number two will also start in Acapulco. The US Open winner, like Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini, will compete in Acapulco for the first time.

"We are very happy to announce four top ten players for the next edition of the tournament. They are great players," said tournament director Raúl Zurutuza. The hard court tournament in Mexico will take place February 21-26, 2022.
