If buddy Nick Kyrgios takes part in the operation of the tennis circus very sparingly for various reasons (currently a positive corona test is the reason for this), then at least Thanasi Kokkinakis has to take care of the entertainment of the Australian tennis fans. And how! After the local hero, who repeatedly struggled with injuries, was in the semifinals of the first of the two ATP Tour 250 tournaments in Adelaide last week and narrowly failed to Gael Monfils, Kokkinakis made it into the final this time .

And how: He defeated Marin Cilic after a playing time of 2:38 hours with 6: 2, 3: 6 and 7: 6 (10). In the final it is against the French Arthur Rinderknech, who won against his compatriot Corentn Moutet 6: 1 and 6: 3.

Kokkinakis and Rinderknech still untitled

The 25-year-old Kokkinakis is currently only 145th in the ATP world rankings, last year he mostly played on the ATP Challenger Tour. His last match before the performances in Adelaide was lost in the first round of qualifying for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells against the Italian Matteo Viola in the tie-break of the third set.

Kokkinakis, who reached his career high with number 69 in the charts in 2015, is playing for his first title on the ATP tour tomorrow. The same applies to opponent Arthur Rinderknech.
