Alexander Zverev starts the season at the United Cup.

Alexander Zverev starts the new season with the United Cup. The advantage after the weak start last year is clear. Since there was no victory for the German number one at the last United Cup, there are no points to defend at the start of the new season.

A starting point that the Hamburg native already knows from this autumn. After the French Open, Alexander Zverev had no points to lose due to his injury last year. His performances in the fall ensured his return to the top 10 and seventh place in the ATP rankings at the end of the year.

The 21-time title holder on the ATP Tour didn't score many points at the Australia Open last January either. Due to the second round elimination against Michael Mmoh, Alexander Zverev was credited with 45 points. The likelihood of a longer stay in Melbourne is definitely given based on the performance of the last few months.

With a gap of 250 points to Stefanos Tsitsipas and 820 points to Andrey Rublev, who only has 360 points to defend from Australia, a return to the top 5 is at least possible.
