The ATP is involving an independent third party in the investigation into the Alexander Zverev case

In the ongoing investigation against Alexander Zverev for allegations of domestic violence, ATP called in an "independent third party with expertise in this area". This was confirmed by Andrea Gaudenzi, head of the player organization, in a Spox interview. Gaudenzi said he could not comment on the status of the investigation: "But I can say that we will provide more information when the investigation is complete."

In October, after the serious allegations by Zverev's ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova, ATP launched an investigation and announced that it would reject "any form of violence or abuse". Sharypova had repeatedly made allegations of physical and psychological violence against the Olympic champion during the 13-month relationship, which the world number three has always denied.

Gaudenzi sees "pent-up demand" when it comes to safety

Zverev welcomed the start of an "independent investigation" and rejected the allegations as "defamatory and untrue". Most recently, in December, he was "sure that it will be settled relatively soon. We also take legal action in Russia against people who accuse me of evil," said Zverev: "The truth always comes out."

Gaudenzi now admitted that his organization had entered "new territory" with this step and that there was "pent-up demand". "I'm glad that last year we did a very detailed review with an external expert on security and protective measures," said the Italian: "As a result, we received a number of recommendations to ensure that all children and adults involved in professional tennis are safe and protected from abuse."
