Andy Murray had his chances. He had a chance to knock the number two of the ATP 250 event in Antwerp, Diego Schwartzman, out of the tournament. After a cold start by the Argentine, the Scot was already about 4-1 in the front, but then had to give up five games - and thus also the first round. In set two it was up to the British to make up a break deficit, but in the decisive tiebreak the former world number one acted too error-prone. And so finally had to give up in two sentences.

Despite another well-balanced duel with a player in the top 20, Murray was anything but satisfied after his exit in Antwerp. "Mentally I was bad today," said Murray after his defeat. "My attitude was bad on the pitch and those are two things that you can control. If they are not there, it also makes decision-making more difficult," said the 34-year-old. Of course, you can't always make the right decision in a match, "but you also have to be present enough to see what actually happens in the points and why you win or lose points," said the three-time major winner self-critically.

Schwartzman pays Murray his respects

Most recently, Murray's form curve showed upwards, but due to difficult draws, the results did not really come for the Scotsman. That's how tennis is, explained Murray: "Tennis is a profit-making business. It doesn't matter whether you play well or badly when you lose games. You have to win," said Murray. "That's what I want for the last couple of tournaments. They are really strong tournaments and there are no guarantees that the results will come, but I want to win more matches."

Schwartzman recognized this upward trend in the injury-ridden Scotsman after his triumph: "He comes back and every week he plays better and moves better. I have a lot of respect for him because when I grew up playing tennis, I got Roger , Watching Rafa, Andy and Novak, and now playing against him is a pleasure for me, "said the Argentine. Murray will serve in Vienna in the coming week, after which a line-up in Paris-Bercy seems likely.
