Davis Cup player Jan-Lennard Struff (29) has once again enjoyed a sense of achievement after three defeats in series. The seventh placed Warsteiner defeated in the first round of the ATP tournament in Antwerp the Frenchman Gregoire Barrere in just 44 minutes clear 6: 2, 6: 1. Struffs opponents in the match to qualify for the quarter-finals determine the German qualifier Yannik Maden (Stuttgart) and Frances Tiafoe (USA).

After a good season before Struff had come after his second round-off at the US Open out of step. At the tournaments in Metz and Tokyo as well as the Masters in Shanghai, he failed to his opening hurdles. Peter Gojowczyk (Munich) had already failed in Antwerp on Monday in the first round to Guido Pella (Argentina / No. 5).

In addition to Struff, Andy Murray made it to the second round of the ATP 250 event in the Belgian port city. The former world number one had some problems with Kimmer Coppejans, but eventually prevailed with 6: 4 and 7: 6 (4). In the second round, the Brit gets to deal with Pablo Cuevas or Hugo Dellien.
