Struff was defeated by South African Lloyd Harris 2: 6, 3: 6, so the tournament in Antwerp is entering the decisive phase without German participation. Struff was the only DTB starter in the main field. In the first round he had defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas in three sets.

For the Warsteiner, the rather unsuccessful second half of the season will continue in 2021. In the spring he had triumphed with a final in Munich and a round of 16 at the French Open, since then things have not been going so well: He celebrated only 5 wins in 17 games afterwards, in the world rankings he has lost 17 places since the beginning of the year. Especially with the majors - with the exception of Roland Garros - very little came together, both at the Australian Open, in Wimbledon and at the US Open, round 1 was already over.

Struff's next stations: The ATP tournament in St. Petersburg and then the qualification for the Masters tournament in Paris.
