Philipp Oswald and Oliver Marach got off to a successful start in Antwerp

The double tableau in Antwerp is small but nice - only four pairs are placed in the field of 16, Oliver Marach and Philipp Oswald have to deal with the number two pairing after their narrow opening success against Erlich and Goransson. In the quarter-finals, Nicolas Mahut and Fabrice Martin are waiting for two Frenchmen who had no problems at the beginning with the two local heroes Ruben Bemelmans and Kimmer Coppejans.

Above all, Oliver Marach will have turned his gaze a few days into the future. At the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, he is scheduled for his last home appearance at an AT tournament, followed by the Davis Cup in Innsbruck at the end of November, where the Styrian can also be expected with Philipp Oswald as a partner. Especially since the two of them represented Austria at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Marach / Oswald had already played against Israeli Erlich at the US Open - and lost in round one. Probably also because the steadily growing Lloyd Harris gave Erlich's playmates. The most recent shared memories for the Austrian couple are mostly positive: In Sofia, Marach and Oswald were in the final, but Jonny O'Mara and Ken Skupski had to admit defeat there. After that, Marach had spent a few days in his native Graz, the two veterans saved the trip to Indian Wells.
