Calvelli was unanimously appointed CEO by the ATP Board of Directors. The 45-year-old enjoys a good reputation in terms of marketing and product development. With this, ATP has completed the recruitment process at the highest management level. The duo will take over the duties of Chris Kermode, who retires at the end of 2019 as ATP President and Chairman.

"I am pleased and honored to be the new ATP CEO," Calvelli said in a press release. "I've been involved in professional tennis for most of my life and I'm looking forward to bringing my passion for the sport to the table, it's exciting times to be on the ATP Tour and we want to build on the growth of the past few years."

Calvelli was most recently with the sporting goods manufacturer Nike responsible for global marketing in tennis. He previously served as global director for Wilson Sporting Goods.

"We share the same passion for the sport and I'm convinced that our diverse business experience will be good for the future of the tour," said Gaudenzi.
