While European clay court tennis was still being indulged in in Umag and Kitzbühel, a small part of the ATP entourage was already moving on. Namely in the USA to serve hard at the ATP 250 event in Atlanta. The North American hard court swing will only really pick up speed this week, when Daniil Medvedev, the number one in the world, will return to the court in Los Cabos.

Last week in Atlanta it was primarily the American-Australian championships, as starters from these nations dominated the draw at the ATP 250 event. And they were also the ones who were to decide the titles in singles and doubles among themselves. So now Jenson Brooksby and Alex de Minaur got to do it early Sunday evening (local time).

Kyrgios/Kokkinakis successful in doubles

With the better end for the Australian, who should ultimately have the upper hand in two sets. It is the sixth career title for de Minaur, the first in the 2022 calendar year. The 23-year-old is now back in 21st place in the ATP charts, 16 places ahead of final opponent Jenson Brooskby, who is again close to his career high (ATP-33 ) is on.

Australian title holders also competed in pair skating on Sunday: the Australian Open champions Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis. In a hard-fought final, the two Australians defeated their compatriots Jason Kubler and John Peers 7:6 (4) and 7:5. This puts Kyrgios/Kokkinakis in a promising sixth place in the Race to Turin.
