Umbert already led with a break in the third set, pair came back again. In the end, however, it was the young left-hander who won a title at the highest level in Auckland for the first time in his career with a 7: 6 (2), 3: 6 and 7: 6 (5). On the way there, Humbert defeated Denis Shapovalov in the quarterfinals and John Isner in the semi-finals.
For the Austrian Philipp Oswald, however, it was nothing like the first tournament victory with Marcus Daniell. Oswald and his New Zealand partner lost to Luke Bambridge and Ben McLachlan 6: 7 (3) and 3: 6 in the double final.
