Massu has to prevail in the election against Apostolos Tsitsipas (Stefanos Tsitsipas coach), Carlos Moya (Rafael Nadal), Gilles Cervara (Daniil Medvedev) and Vincenzo Santopadre (Matteo Berrettini).

"Thanks to all for the recognition, I'm very happy to be nominated alongside these greats," Massu wrote on Twitter. Massus colleagues have ensured his nomination. The coaches of the ATP Tour also decide on the eventual winner, which will be announced in December.

Massu was first hired by Günter Bresnik in February 2019 as a touring coach of Thiem, after he fixed the qualification for the finals in Madrid with the Chilean Davis Cup team in Salzburg.

Immediately in the first weeks of cooperation Thiem won the title of Indian Wells, also led Massu his protégé again in the final of the French Open and five individual tournament victories, including the tournaments of Kitzbühel and Vienna.

"There are few players as complete as him on the tour," Massu commented on the 26-year-old at the recent ATP finals in London. "The season has been incredible and the next four years will be very important for his career."
