So far, all paths at matches between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner had led to Rome: In 2019, at the regular date, Tsitsipas gave the Italian teenager no chance. Sinner returned the favor in autumn 2020. But now the two faced each other in the semifinals of the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Barcelona. And Tsitsipas put in the internal balance again: The Greek had to fight off a few small problems, but ultimately won with 6: 3 and 6: 3.

This gives Stefanos Tsitsipas the chance to win the second title within eight days tomorrow, Sunday. Last Sunday, the 22-year-old won an ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo for the first time. The difference in the semi-finals on Saturday in Barcelona can be reduced almost in one fell swoop: the first serve. Tsitsipas often found himself lagging behind when it came to his own service - but when things got really tricky, the 2019 ATP world champion unpacked his best serves.

As a setback, Stefanos Tsitsipas also did better: After 65 minutes of play, he managed the third break to move into the final. And stayed in Barcelona without losing a set. Across all tournaments, Tsitsipas has won the last 17 sets played.

In the second semifinals, Rafael Nadal and Pablo Carreno Busta face each other. Nadal is the clear favorite in the game: He has won all seven games against his Spanish compatriot so far.
