Andrey Rublev is not considered to be the man to beat at the ATP 500 level for nothing: the Russian won 23 matches in a row before the semifinals in Dubai in this tournament category before Aslan Karatsev finished his compatriot's run. In Barcelona Rublev wanted to lay the foundation for a new series, but Jannik Sinner thwarted this plan.
Because the 19-year-old prevailed in the quarter-finals of the clay court classic in the Catalan capital with 6: 2 and 7: 6 (6) against the world number seven. After the first set was relatively clear to Sinner, he even had to fend off a set ball in the tie-break of the second round.
