Tournament victory for Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies: The German duo won a 6:7(3),-7:6(5),-10 in a close final double battle at the ATP World Tour 500 event in Barcelona: 6 success over Dutch-British pairing Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski. In the 2:27-hour final in the Catalan capital, the momentum between the two sides on Center Court Rafa Nadal shifted back and forth for almost the entire season.
In the end, Krawietz and Mies were the two happier players, who showed a little more callousness in the crucial moments. For the Germans, apart from the two Grand Slam triumphs in Paris, it is the first joint ATP Tour title on sand. Last year, Krawietz was able to pick up the winner's trophy with final opponent Koolhof at the classic sand court in Munich. In 2022 Krawietz / Mies are back together at the MTTC Iphitos and meet the Mexican-Austrian pairing Hans Hach Verdugo and Philipp Oswald in round one.
