ATP Beijing: Zverev victorious in doubles

Alexander Zverev only starts his first round game against Diego Schwartzman at the ATP500 event in Beijing on Friday. Today was the opening doubles game with friend Marcelo Melo and the German-Brazilian combination was victorious.

In the first set, Melo and Zverev had a hard time against the two doubles specialists Nicola Mektic and Marcelo Arevalo-Gonzalez and clearly lost the first round 2:6. It was only in the second set that the two companions arrived in the match and delivered a strong performance in the Chinese capital. The result of the second section was 6:3 and so the match tiebreak had to choose the winner.

Duel with Krawietz and Pütz possible

With the tailwind of the second round, Melo and Zverev quickly gained a lead, but from 6:6 onwards a real tiebreak thriller developed. which the German won with his partner 11:9. So after 73 minutes the winning double was determined. In the next round there could be a German duel for Zverev with Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, who will meet the top seeds Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek on Friday.
