Rudd won against Federico Coria 6:3, 6:4 and thus reached his first semi-final in 2022. The game was more reminiscent of Norwegian than Argentinian weather conditions , Ruud then stated .
But he didn't want to see an indirect home advantage. "On days like these, it's not easy to play your perfect game. You have to go point by point, build up the points. I think I did a good job."
In the first semi-final, Ruud meets Federico Delbonis, who beat Fabio Fognini 6-4, 6-4.
In the lower half, Lorenzo Sonego defeated veteran Fernando Verdasco 6-4, 7-6 (4). Verdasco, currently only number 201 in the world, had won an ATP match in Buenos Aires for the first time since May 2021, after beating Hugo Dellien in the opening match against Thiago Monteiro.
However, Sonego still has to wait for his semi-final opponent: The last game between Diego Schwartzman and Francisco Cerundolo was stopped at 3: 6, 6: 2 and 1: 1 from "El Peque"'s point of view due to rain and will therefore be the first on semi-final Saturday Match of the day continued.
