Juan Martin del Potro faces Federico Delbonis at the start of the ATP 250 event in Buenos Aires

The lot should have been a little easier for Juan Martin del Potro on his comeback: The "Tower from Tandil" will face his compatriot Federico Delbonis in his first tournament match after more than two and a half years at his home tournament in Buenos Aires. The 2009 US Open champion, who was given a wildcard, will meet number six in the tournament at the ATP 250 clay court event, the current number 41 in the ATP ranking.

In a possible round of 16, it would be either the Spaniard Pablo Andujar (starting with a protected ranking) or another local hero, Juan Ignacio Londero. Londero is in the main draw with a special exemption due to his participation in the quarter-finals of the current clay court tournament in Cordoba (also Argentina). If everything goes according to paper, Fabio Fognini would be ready as a counterpart in the quarter-finals.

Yannick Hanfmann starts in the qualification

The Norwegian Casper Ruud enters the tournament as number one in the Argentine capital. Number eight in the ATP ranking has a bye to start with, as does Diego Schwartzman (Argentina), Lorenzo Sonego (Italy) and the aforementioned Fognini. Players from the DACH region are not in the main draw of Buenos Aires, only Yannick Hanfmann contests the qualification and meets the Spaniard Mario Vilella Martinez there at the start.
