The Russians will start as defending champions at the ATP Cup in 2022

A few days ago, Alexander Zverev complained that the season on the ATP tour was simply too long , since it is already certain that the season start 2022 will take place a little earlier than this year. As it became known on Saturday, five ATP events are planned just before the Australian Open, which should start on January 17th.

The starting shot for the 2022 season should be given on January 1st, when the ATP Cup will start more than a month earlier than this year. The team event will take place with 16 nations, with exactly 10 million dollars in prize money available. At the same time as the team event, two ATP 250 events are planned, the exact locations for which are only to be confirmed.

Compulsory vaccination in Australia

In the following week, players on the higher ranks of the ATP charts in Down Under will also get their money's worth, in the days before the Australian Open two more ATP 250 events are planned, even here without an officially confirmed venue. In addition to these events, qualifying for the Australian Open is also on the program this week.

The special thing about it: All players who want to start Down Under at the start of the year must be fully vaccinated. This became public after the WTA informed their players. The ATP professionals also received information in their information about when they had to be vaccinated.
