Jurij Rodionov is in the quarter-finals of Aix-en-Provence after a three-set win over number 59 in the world rankings

Another strong performance by Jurij Rodionov at the highly endowed ATP Challenger tournament in Aix-en-Provence: In the round of 16 of the clay court event in the 175 category in south-eastern France, the Lower Austrian defeated the eighth seeded Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry after 2:31 hours Playing time with 6:3, 1:6, 7:6 (5). In the quarter-finals, the Austrian has to face either the top seeded American Tommy Paul or the French alternate Geoffrey Blancaneaux.

The Challenger event, which runs parallel to the second week of the Combined event in Madrid, is exceptionally strong. For example, Rodionov's round of 16 competitor with world ranking position 59 is 60 places ahead of the ÖTV player. With the top favorite Paul, a top 20 professional is even part of the game. Rodionov has already won the indoor hard court challenger in Biel, Switzerland, this season.
