Jurij Rodionov is in the quarterfinals of the ATP Challenger tournament in Andria

Jurij Rodionov is the only Austrian this week who is trying to earn points for the world rankings in singles on the ATP Challenger Tour. The Lower Austrian is at the ATP Challenger 80 event in Andria, Italy, and is already in the quarterfinals there. Rodionov, seeded number five, defeated the Russian qualifier Alibek Kachmazov in an intense game after 2:28 hours of play 6:4, 6:7 (4), 6:4.

The 23-year-old had previously eliminated the wildcard local hero Federico Arnaboldi 6: 2, 6: 4. In the round of the last eight it is now either against the Uzbek veteran Mikhail Kukushkin or the winner of the game Stuart Parker (Great Britain) against Michael Geerts (Belgium). In the live ranking of the ATP, Rodionov is currently ranked 120 - a career best for the ambitious native of Nuremberg.
