Gerald Melzer had to play against Federico Coria at the start, the Argentine prevailed 6: 3 and 6: 4. After a long injury break, Melzer claimed his protected ranking for a place in the heavily occupied grid at the Salzburg Open. Alexander Erler, on the other hand, had fought his way through the qualification, but was defeated by the Russian Alexey Vatutin with 6: 2, 4: 6 and 2: 6.

Dennis Novak, the Austrian number two, is also no longer represented in the competition. Novak lost to Blaz Rola 5: 7 and 6: 7 (4). And Maximilian Neuchrist, who made it to a starting place with a wildcard, has already retired. Roberto Caballes Baena, the number five of the tournament, made a new Christian with 4: 6, 6: 4 and 4: 6.
