Dennis Novak made a difference on Tuesday: after defeating fellow countryman and Davis Cup colleague Sebastian Ofner in two sets at the ATP Challenger tournament in Bratislava, Novak also won his second round match against Alexei Popyrin. The Australian against whom Dominic Thiem had to give up at the Australian Open earlier this year due to his illness. Novak won 6: 4, 5: 7 and 6: 4.
In the round of 16 Austria's number two will face either Cedric-Marcel Stebe or Norbert Gombos. The match between the German and the Slovak is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
