After the tough opening game against Brayden Schnur, in which Jurij Rodionov had to fend off four match points, the Austrian had a much easier game in the round of 16 of the ATP Challenger tournament in Columbus: The 22-year-old beat Nick Hardt 6: 3 and 6: 2. The Dominican Republic man managed just one break while Rodionov managed five.
In the quarter-finals, Rodionov, who was fourth in Columbus, now meets Björn Fratangelo or Mikael Torpegaard.
The successful run of the Austrian starters at this week's Challenger events continues: Dennis Novak had already qualified for the quarter-finals in Quimper, France, on Wednesday .
