In the final, Erler and Miedler beat Dustin Brown and Julian Lenz 6:1 and 7:6 (3). The two Austrians entered the Challenger tournament in Como as number one and easily lived up to their role as favourites. For Erler/Miedler it was already the third joint Challenger title this year: In the spring, the two won the tournament in Ostrava, the second followed in July in Tampere. In Salzburg, the two were only beaten in the final by Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow.

In 2021, Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler sensationally won the doubles title at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel. The attempt to repeat this success was stopped a few weeks ago in the first round by the Dutch couple Tallon Griekspoor and Bart Stevens.
