Reason for celebration for local hero Julian Lenz: The German is in the round of 16 at the ATP Challenger event in Hamburg after qualifying - and can also look forward to the pleasant draw for number three in the tournament. Because Lenz was surprisingly able to defeat them on Tuesday evening, the DTB man kept the upper hand against the Austrian Dennis Novak.

At first it had actually looked so good for Novak. The Lower Austrian secured round one with 6:4, but then had to quickly and heartily accept the set equalization with 1:6. The third section developed into a thriller, finally had the better nerves and won the tie-break. For the German it is now against the winner in the duel between Evgeny Donskoy and Harold Mayot.

Also in the second round is the German Marko Topo. This kept the upper hand in the all-German duel with Jeremy Jahn. In the round of 16 it is now against Matteo Martineau from France. Nicola Kuhl has also reached the round of 16, the German benefiting from a retirement by compatriot Mats Moraing. Top seed in Hamburg is Greogire Barrere, the surprise man from Ismaning Max Hans Rehberg is a possible second round opponent of the Frenchman.
