ATP Challenger Ismaning: Jordan Thompson leads strong field

The official entry list is headed by the Australian Jordan Thompson (ATP 76). After his start this year at the ATP lawn tournaments in Stuttgart and Halle, where the 27-year-old reached the round of 16, the Davis Cup player in Ismaning would like to once again present his skills on the fast track in Germany. The squad of veterans is led by Andreas Seppi (ATP 93) from Italy. Hanfmann and Otte lead the German contingent

With Yannick Hanfmann (ATP 125) and Oscar Otte (ATP 138), the spectators can look forward to two German players who, due to their placement, are among the narrowest circle of title contenders. At the tournaments in Roland Garros, Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows, the Cologne player played his way out of the qualification into the main field, where he played dramatic 5-set matches against Olympic champion Alexander Zverev and multiple Grand Slam champion Andy Murray. At the US Open, Peter Moraing's protégé was even able to advance to the round of 16.

Mats Moraing (ATP 171) from Mülheim an der Ruhr is currently in brilliant shape. After lengthy injury problems due to a knee operation, the 29-year-old left-hander was able to secure his Challenger titles number 3 and 4 this season.

You can always count on the Nuremberg Maximilian Marterer (ATP 192) on the carpet. The 26-year-old won his fifth of a total of seven titles on the ATP Challenger Tour on this surface in 2017 in front of a home crowd in Eckental. Last year the left-hander reached the quarter-finals in Ismaning.

The 26-year-old Daniel Masur (ATP 233) has the greatest continuity at the WOLFFKRAN OPEN. The Bückeburger was the only player to have competed in all editions in Ismaning and was able to reach the quarter-finals. This year, the TennisBase professional was able to secure his first Grand Slam participation in Wimbledon by successfully qualifying and celebrating his first Challenger title in Biella, Italy.

Yannick Maden from Stuttgart (ATP 186) is also returning to Ismaning. Last year, the 31-year-old made his debut at the WOLFFKRAN OPEN, where he was defeated by his colleague Hanfmann in a high-class 3-set match in the opening round in the “Duel of the Yannicks”.
