Max Rehberg on Thursday in Ismaning

After his surprise success against the No. 2 of the tournament, local hero Max Rehberg (ATP 596) continues to ride the wave of success in Ismaning. In his round of 16 encounter with an almost sold-out house, the Landshamer had to deal with the veteran Robin Haase (ATP 304), who was already 33rd in the world rankings. The 19-year-old started the game furiously with a quick 3-0 lead. After three missed set balls when the 35-year-old Dutchman served, Rehberg then served to win the set. In the second round without losing serve, the decision was made in the tie-break, in which the TennisBase pro was able to fend off a set point and even converted his second match point to a 6:3, 7:6 success after 80 minutes to frenetic applause from the Ismaning crowd.

After the match, Rehberg commented: " I served well again today and acted offensively from behind and played good angles. With the confidence I gained from winning the tournament in France last week and the development of my game over the past few months, I now go into the match with the attitude that I can beat such players at any time. I'm just proud of my performance and see it as a reward for the hard work I've put in with my amazing team."

Ejupovic still on the road to success

Elmar Ejupovic (ATP 329) continues his fantastic run at the WOLFFKRAN OPEN. After his two victories in qualification and yesterday's three-set win against No. 6 on the seeding list, the 29-year-old also got his ticket for the quarter-finals. In the encounter against Slovakian Lukas Klein (ATP 180), the Reutlinger fought his way back into the match after losing the first set and triumphed after almost two hours with 3: 6, 6: 3 and 7: 5.

" I started the match a little sluggishly, which may also be due to the fact that my games have always been scheduled around noon in the last few days. After I managed to break in the second set, I noticed that my opponent had lost some of his concentration and also seemed a bit tired. Then I kept pushing myself and I'm happy to have drawn the match, " said Ejupovic after his victory.
