ATP Challenger Ismaning: Marterer and Otte in the fourth final too

The German players are still promising in the race to win the ATP Challenger tournament in Ismaning. After Matthias Bachinger, Maximilian Marterer and Oscar Otte also made it to the quarter-finals.

In the first purely German duel of the day, Cologne's Oscar Otte (ATP 135) met qualifier Julian Lenz (ATP 314) from Giessen. Otte, seeded at No. 5, won 91% of his points on the first serve and was able to take the service from his opponent of the same age twice. After 70 minutes, Peter Moraing's protégé fixed the quarter-finals 6: 3, 6: 4.

After the match, the 28-year-old commented with satisfaction: “ It was another difficult match today, because Julian and I get on very well privately. There are almost no smooth matches on carpet anyway. So I'm all the happier that I was able to implement what I set out to do before the game so well. With the two victories here, I can go into the next match with even more confidence ”.

Marterer beats Rosenkranz in a duel between the left-handers

With Maximilian Marterer (ATP 204) and the 23-year-old Mats Rosenkranz (ATP 394) from Essen, two other DTB players faced each other after the opening match. In a match dominated by strong serves, in which both players served 13 aces each, the Franke Marterer was able to utilize one of his eight break chances. With 6: 3 and 7: 6, the 26-year-old sealed participation in the quarter-finals.

Yannick Maden (ATP 291) missed the quarter-finals. On his 32nd birthday, the man from Stuttgart had to admit defeat to the Czech Jonas Forejtek (ATP 310). After 1:48 hours, the former 2019 US Open junior winner prevailed 7: 6, 3: 6, 6: 1.

Cressy and Halys fight their way to the quarterfinals

Maxime Cressy (ATP 141), who was seeded at No. 7, was able to play out his experience in Ismaning. The Wolffkran Open finalist from 2019 defeated the Finn Otto Virtanen (ATP 377) 7: 6, 3: 6, 7: 5 in an exciting match after 2:18 hours. Tomorrow the 24-year-old American meets Kacper Zuk (ATP 163) from Poland.

The 25-year-old Quentin Halys (ATP 148) was also able to celebrate his entry into the quarter-finals after three sets. With 7: 6, 6: 7 and 6: 4, the number 8 seeded French defeated the Belgian veteran Ruben Bemelmans (ATP 221) after 2:21 hours of play and will face Jonas Forejtek tomorrow, Friday.
