ATP Challenger Ismaning: Rosenkranz beats defending champion Huesler
A successful day from a German point of view at the WOLFFKRAN OPEN 2021. On Tuesday, further first-round matches of the 44,820 euro tournament of the ATP Challenger Tour took place at the TC Ismaning facility.

At the start on the center court, wildcard starter Mats Rosenkranz (ATP 394) from Essen challenged last year's winner of the Wolffkran Open with the Swiss Marc-Andrea Hüsler (ATP 189). In an exciting duel between the strong left-handers, the 23-year-old Rosenkranz dominated the tiebreak of the third set without losing points and secured victory after almost 2 hours of play with 6: 7, 6: 2, 7: 6.
After the match, Peter Moraing's protégé is very satisfied: “ In the first sentence I couldn't do anything with his serves and had to give them up after the tie-break. So I'm all the happier that I was able to win the match . ”When asked about his current form, he replied:“ I achieved my best results in the last two Challenger tournaments and won some close matches, so I'm very confident traveled to Ismaning ” .
Marterer beats Vesely
In the “Match of the Day”, Maximilian Marterer from Franconia (ATP 204) and Jiri Vesely (ATP 78) from the Czech Republic met again two left-handers who also shine with their serve strength. With 82% won first serves, the 26-year-old martyr prevailed in 91 minutes with 7: 6, 6: 4 against No. 2 of the tournament. In the next round he meets his compatriot Mats Rosenkranz.
Following the match, Marterer analyzed: "The decisive factor today was that I didn't withdraw in the important moments to do something else, but continued my uncompromising, active game without letting my opponent play ." He commented on the fast carpet surface: “I grew up on carpet and up to the age of 16/17 I always played on this surface during the winter season. That's why I know exactly how to move and play there. In Eckental I was able to win a Challenger tournament on carpet, of course these matches help me a lot ”.
Bachinger also successful
The two German qualifiers Matthias Bachinger (ATP 269) and Julian Lenz (ATP 314), who were able to keep the upper hand against their Turkish opponents, are still on the road to success. Bachinger from Munich won in just under an hour against Altug Celikbilek (ATP 164) 6: 3, 6: 1, while Giessener Lenz after fierce resistance from his opponent Cem Ilkel (ATP 160) after 2:22 hours 6: 7, 7 : 5 and 6: 1 sealed the entry into the next round.
