Maximilian Neuchrist's sensational run at the ATP Challenger tournament in Maia continues: The 31-year-old Austrian defeated local hero and tournament favorite Nuno Borges 5: 7, 6: 3 and 7: 6 (1) in the next marathon match on Saturday. For Neuchrist it was the third three-set win in a row. Previously, he had defeated Timofey Skatov and Jan Choinski over the full distance.

Particularly noteworthy: Neuchrist, currently ranked 359th in the ATP world rankings, first had to earn a place in the main draw through qualification.

In the final on Sunday he will face either Aleksander Vukic from Australia or Frenchman Luca van Assche. Vukic had claimed three sets against Jurij Rodionov in the quarterfinals on Friday.
