What a week for Daniel Masur in Eckental: Yes, at the beginning the 24-year-old had to go over three sets. But there was also Oscar Otte on the other side of the network, who had started the race as number four in Eckental. After that, however, Masur rushed through the tableau regardless of losses, defeating Mirza Basic, Ramkumar Ramanathan and Marc-Andrea Huesler in two straight sets.
The masterpiece of Masur then followed on Sunday in the final: There he defeated the American Maxim Cressy after a playing time of 77 minutes 6: 4 and 6: 4. Daniel Masur took 6,190 euros in prize money and 80 points for the ATP world rankings from Eckental for the win. Masur thus climbed 42 places in the charts and will be at position 178 from this Monday.
