Five Austrians tried to qualify in Mauthausen, only one got through. But he is now being served a real reward: Ujvary, 18 years old, has to deal with tournament favorite Dominic Thiem in round one.
At the start of qualifying, Ujvary defeated fourth-placed Beibit Zhukayev 6-2 and 6-4, then won against Branko Djuric from Serbia 6-4 and 6-2.
Joel Schwärzler, Sam Weißborn, David Pichler and Manuel Lazic didn't make it.
In addition to Dominic Thiem, Sebastian Ofner, Lukas Neumayer, Filip Misolic, Dennis Novak and Max Neuchrist are also represented in the main draw from an Austrian perspective.
