Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler won the ATP Challenger tournament in Ostrava

Great success for the doubles specialists Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler: The Austrians, who have already won three Challenger tournaments together and last year's triumph at the ATP home tournament in Kitzbühel, secured theirs at the ATP Clay Court Challenger tournament in Ostrava thus a total of fifth joint title. The Tyrolean and the Lower Austrian, who were top seeded in East Moravia themselves, defeated Hunter Reese (USA) and Sem Verbeek (Netherlands), who were two seeded, 7:6 (5), 7:5 in the final of the event, which was worth around 45,000 euros.

With the 80 world ranking points for the win, Erler Montag will find himself in the top 100 of the ATP doubles ranking for the first time, while colleague Miedler has to spend a few points outside the 100 best doubles players just behind. Should things continue in this vein for the two Austrians, further improvement is only a matter of time. Next stop for the two: The ATP Challenger in Mauthausen (Upper Austria).

Here the double tableau from Ostrava.
