ATP Challenger Salzburg: Dominic Thiem celebrates first victory after comeback
Dominic Thiem celebrated his first match win at the ATP Challenger tournament in Salzburg since his comeback in tennis. Thiem defeated Filip Misolic 6: 4 and 7: 5.

ÖTV sports director and Davis Cup boss Jürgen Melzer, currently in action at the legends tournament in Wimbledon, was curious to see how his new protégé Filip Misolic would do in Salzburg on Tuesday evening. But Melzer was also very interested in the condition of Misolic' opponent: it was Dominic Thiem. And like Melzer it was apparently numerous other tennis fans - because the grandstands in Salzburg-Anif were filled to the last seat.
And the spectators saw a competitive match from the start, in which Thiem got the first break of the match to make it 5: 4 in round one. With his eighth opportunity to break Misolic's serve. The 2020 US Open champion served safely to 6: 4.
Thiem wins five games in a row
At the beginning of the second act, Dominic Thiem struck again, Misolic immediately got the rebreak. The Styrian, who came into the main draw through the qualification, immediately followed up with the next break and took a 3-1 lead. In the afternoon, three Austrians had already secured a starting place in the round of 16: Maximilian Neuchrist with a win against Zdenek Kolar, Dennis Novak against Ivan Ghakov and Lukas Neumayer, who surprisingly won 6: 2 and 6: 4 against the French old master Gilles Simon.
