Dennis Novak is already in the quarterfinals in Thailand

Thailand seems to be good ground for Dennis Novak: After Günter Bresnik's protégé had already won a hard court challenger tournament in the 75 category at the same place last week, the Lower Austrian is currently already in the quarterfinals of the US 80,000 Dollar endowed follow-up tournament in Nonthaburi, which is only a few kilometers north of Bangkok.

Novak defeated the French Valentin Royer (ATP 330) in the round of 16 on Wednesday and, as the top seeded player, meets the Czech Marek Gengel (ATP 155) in the round of eight. In round one, the 29-year-old defeated the German qualifier Henri Squire 6: 3, 7: 6 (7).

New Christian in Portugal successful

In Oeiras, Portugal, Max Neuchrist from Vienna is also in the quarter-finals. In the category 75 indoor hard court tournament, the 31-year-old defeated local wildcard hero Goncalo Oliveira 7:6 (4), 6:3. Neuchrist thus avenged compatriot Lukas Neumayer, who had lost in two clear sets 2:6, 2:6 against the Portuguese.

In the first round, the Austrian, currently in 267th place, beat Canadian Steven Diez, who was eighth seeded, 4:6, 6:3, 7:5. At the beginning of December, Neuchrist was in the final of the clay court challenger in Maia (also Portugal) and lost there in three sets against Dutchman Luca Van Assche.
